After becoming a mother, Karen is passionate about giving children the best possible start in learning Mandarin Chinese, for families from all linguistic backgrounds. When she wanted to enroll her daughter into baby Chinese classes, none of the classes she tried strike the right balance between fun and learning, and most of them only cater for Chinese-speaking families. Karen got excited about running Chinese classes where both parents and children can learn in a fun and engaging way.
Currently, we have ~200 students in our various classes. We are proud of our retention rate, our relentless focus in teaching quality and our dedication to genuine communication with parents.
Following the success of our classroom-based lessons, we started to offer private group classes at parents’ home as well as online lessons. Recently, we started to provide afterschool Chinese classes in primary schools and holiday camps to benefit more families.
Learning Chinese should be a HAPPY experience! Children learn best when they enjoy the lesson. Parents are encouraged to play an active role too!
Children of 2-16 years old learn in our fun & engaging classes. To ease our children into more advanced Chinese education, we introduce Chinese character recognition and writing from an early age. We infuse lots of elements that resonate with children, including classic stories, cartoon characters, and Chinese pop songs. The curriculum for each class is carefully designed to cater for different age and language proficiency, so children always feel sufficiently challenged but not discouraged.
Happy Mandarin has worked with students from a wide range of Mandarin level from a diverse linguistic and cultural background. We ensure that children enjoy the experience while making progress!
We continue to innovate our Chinese teaching approach. Happy Mandarin is a selected pilot school for Chineasy products, on top of our proprietary curriculum.
